LED Moisture-Proof Light FAQ
The primary distinctions lie in their sealing structure, IP rating, and moisture-proofing measures for internal components:
– Standard Panel Lights: Typically rated IP20, these lack sealing gaskets and feature gaps where the frame components join. Their LED drivers and light boards have no moisture-resistant coatings, making them suitable only for dry environments (such as offices or living rooms); they offer no protection against steam or condensation. As the light heats up when turned on and cools down when turned off, it effectively “breathes,” drawing in humid air that leads to internal fogging and water condensation.
– Moisture-Proof Panel Lights: Generally rated IP44 or IP65, these feature integrated silicone sealing gaskets that ensure the entire fixture is airtight. The LED drivers are typically encapsulated (potted) or treated for moisture resistance, and the PCBs are coated with a hydrophobic, anti-corrosive layer. Some high-end models are also equipped with a ventilation valve (breather valve) to balance internal and external air pressure; this prevents condensation while blocking the entry of moisture, water splashes, and oil vapors into the fixture’s interior.

– IP67 and above: Supports short-term submersion; very few panel lights reach this rating.
